Atletico Madrid are in talks with Manchester City for Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, and it looks like Los Colchoneros are favourites for his signature at this point. That is despite the presence of Paris Saint-Germain, who have a much larger war chest at their disposal.
According to Matteo Moretto, PSG’s large bank accounts are not a major problem for Atletico to contend with at this point in time. The Italian insider has explained that despite consistent links, they are not moving for Alvarez with the same speed nor conviction for Alvarez, but more than that, the 24-year-old would rather move to Atletico or stay in the Premier League than move to the Parc des Princes.

Given the consistent tension between France and Argentina on the international stage, Alvarez might not be given the warmest of welcomes in Paris. Equally, one of the key attractions to play for PSG is the financial side of it, whereas Alvarez is already at Manchester City, who pay as well as anyone. All factors which play into Atletico’s hands.
