Liverpool draw up plan to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili – with intention for immediate loan to Premier League rivals

For much of the summer, Valencia have been expecting to part ways with star goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. They’ve already signed Stole Dimitrievski as a replacement, although the current situation looks to be that the former is more likely to continue at the Mestalla – at least for another 12 months.

However, that could soon be about to change. According to Relevo, Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Mamardashvili, whom they are now planning to sign for a fee in the region of €30m – it’s worth noting that this is below Valencia’s valuation by at least €5-10m.

Interestingly, Liverpool would not be looking to keep Mamardashvili if they were to agree a deal with Valencia. Because they cannot offer him a place as a guaranteed starter – they already have Alisson Becker – they’d want to loan him to another Premier League club with immediate effect, thus allowing him to adapt to life in England.

Bournemouth are one of the sides also interested in Mamardashvili, and they also want to sign him. However, if Liverpool win that race, they could be a candidate to secure his services on a one-year loan.

It would be a rather bizarre situation, and it’s unlikely that Mamardashvili would be totally convinced by the operation. For the moment, Valencia are under no pressure to sell, and there’s little to no chance of an offer of €30m being accepted.
