Defender determined to force through move to Real Madrid, contract termination being sought

Real Madrid have already decided that they will make no more signings this summer, with the only possible exception being a low-cost centre-back. In recent weeks, they have explored the possibility of acquiring Aymeric Laporte, although they have no intention of paying the asking price set by Al-Nassr.

Laporte is aware that Real Madrid would only sign him if he were to come free, so he’s determined to make that a reality. According to the Al Yaum newspaper in Saudi Arabia (via Diario AS), the Euro 2024 winner’s agent is seeking a contract termination with Al-Nassr, which would open the door to a move to the Spanish capital.

Ancelotti has already given approval for Laporte to join, should it become a realistic possibility. The former Athletic Club and Manchester City defender is also prepared to significantly reduce his salary to join Real Madrid, so that his wages would be in line with the club’s expectations.

It will be difficult for Laporte to terminate his Al-Nassr contract, given that money is no object for the Saudi Pro League side. However, if it does come to fruition, he would be an outstanding signing for Real Madrid.
