“We can’t sign Nico Williams” – Joan Laporta accused of misleading Barcelona supporters

Last month, Joan Laporta confirmed that Barcelona have the means to activate Nico Williams’ Athletic Club €58m release clause, despite the club’s crippling financial issues. The 22-year-old winger is their top target for this summer’s transfer window, although it seems increasingly unlikely that he will join.

Multiple reports have emerged since Laporta’s statements which have said that Barcelona have the money to sign Williams, but these have been called out by Victor Font, who went against Laporta in the last presidential elections – and he’s expected to do so again in 2026.

Speaking to The Athletic (via Sport), Font claimed that Barcelona are not capable of paying Williams’ release clause.

“I wish we could sign Nico Williams because that’s what we need. The president has said that it is possible, but that is not true. Today it cannot be done. We hope that it will be possible tomorrow. But today, it is not.

“The members want to dream and believe what they tell us. The problem is that they have been telling us for three summers that everything is fine, that we will sign players and that everything is resolved. With each passing year, credibility falls. And this summer, if promises are not kept, credibility will fall even more.”

It’s not only Font that doubts Barcelona’s ability to sign Williams – the player himself is also unsure, which is why he appears sceptical to commit to the move this summer.

  1. PAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA

I saw through fattys lies day one. Guys lying through his teeth and mongoIoid dildolona fanbase gobble his sh*t up and clap like retarded seals. *Auuugh Auugh*.

So lets recap, he brought 3 trophies in 4 years, he endebted dildoIona to their necks, he deceived fanbase and keeps deceiving them, he made a mockery of transfers, coaches, contract ethics and drew barcelongoloid name through the mud. Not that there is much decency nor honor that went spoiled in that mud but anyhow. He also made sure to line his own pockets and made institution more and more bank owned and less and less socio owned with all massive credits and levers that keep selling off percentages to banks. He made a travesty of selling camp Franco Nou to Spotify, Im sure something that wasnt received too well by anyone.

Thank God above that Im not a anaIona fan, but lets pretend for the sake of argumentation that I was… Id be pretty upset over all this. Will the cretin fanbase revolt against him? Personally Im hoping that he will ruin.. pardon RUN this club forever.
Will we hear down with laPorka or will we still keep hearing *Auugh Auugh* from the retarded seals?

    1. Buddy, most Barca fans agree with you. No idea who still supports Lieporta, especially after what he did to Xavi.

  2. John Menzies, I for one appreciate the reporting now coming out on “Football Espana” focusing on the continued financial crisis of Barcelona caused by incompetent and dishonest management at the very top of the organization, for the past decade. It is all coming to a head now and it appears Mr. Font seems to be right on point that there needs to be a change in club leadership to fix this problem.
The fans will just have to swallow the bitter medicine that drastically reducing the player’s payroll, as all La Liga teams must do (except Real Madrid who seem to be the epitome of a well run organization) is the only lever management can pull to fix this situation. That means no international stars. Just play the young, up and coming La Masia players who can be signed on the cheap to the first team.
I am not one to disparage the club nor the fans. As a young U.S. Marine stationed in Spain in 1972 I was drawn to a Johan Cruyff led canción “El Barca, el Barca Campeón” team that introduced me to the beautiful game. (I still have that 45RPM record too!)
Marrying a young Senorita from Andalucia, my attention turned to Real Betis over the years, but I still favor Barcelona over Real Madrid (because I like to root for the under dog)

    1. welcome back John

this alter ego is an ex marine

i am sure you have over 1000 confirmed kills and is an expert on both C&C and demolitions

people stop humiliating yourselves with your stories or at least try to keep them at a somewhat believeable level

      you prat you

  3. The Barcelona Fc financial crisis is making the President of Barcelona Fc to lie. I think weeks ago the President told the public that Nico William deal was set. How come the deal is not done? The leaser should be man with word not to lie. I will nerve trust Barcelona FC president when it comes to signing because he lies too much.

  4. Well I already unfollowed Nico Williams already……never really believed he that great cause against top dawgs like Kounde?! He couldn’t even get past the man…..was always confused and a mess, Espana gonna have to give thanks to Lamie yamal who laid in the pass/assist just Infront of him to score…..one thing I know, Nico is better than dembele when it comes to hitting the target @84% to Dembele’s 21½%…

    1. Who literally knocked Barca out last form the king’s cup (Copa del REY). Say the name NICO WILLIAMS, no barca players could know how to mark him. Please do ur findings before posting gibberish

  5. Barca submit an offer for olmo worth 60 million. But can not afford niko for 58 million.
    How is that right?!!!
Spainish federation will approve barcac1:1 only on september so they can not buy any player .
