Villarreal set to close third Premier League sale in three days, defender agrees deal with Fulham

Earlier this week, Villarreal finalised the sales of Ben Brereton Diaz and Filip Jorgensen. Brereton Diaz has joined Southampton, while Jorgensen has completed a move to Chelsea for a fee in the region of €24.5m. As it turns out, they’re about to close another agreement with a Premier League club.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Fulham have agreed a deal to sign Jorge Cuenca. The 24-year-old defender was not in Marcelino Garcia Toral’s plans for the new season, and although there had been speculation about a possible loan move, it’s now been decided that he will depart on a permanent basis.

Cuenca will travel to London imminently in order to undergo medical tests, having already agreed a five-year contract.

At this stage, it’s unclear how much Villarreal will receive for Cuenca’s sale. It shouldn’t be an insignificant amount, meaning that the Yellow Submarine will have plenty of money to spend in the transfer market over the coming weeks – especially if Alexander Sorloth does complete a €35m move to Atletico Madrid.
