Barcelona facing major Dani Olmo issue with RB Leipzig unimpressed

It has been made known that Barcelona are confident they can sign RB Leipzig and Spain star Dani Olmo this summer, as their interest appears to have cooled in Nico Williams. However RB Leipzig may have other ideas.

Leipzig have a gentleman’s agreement with Olmo to accept an offer of his now expired release clause of €60m, and believe that one of his suitors will pay that amount for him. In Spain, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been cited as competitors, but Olmo would rather sign for Barcelona. The Blaugrana offered €40m plus €20m in variables, which was rejected, but only out of courtesy. Sport say that Leipzig found the offer insulting, and only on the request of Olmo’s agents did they respond to Barcelona.

Meanwhile Relevo say that Barcelona have no intention of reaching that asking price. The Catalan giants feel they can negotiate down that €60m fee demanded for Olmo. All the same, Leipzig have little need to lower their demands. Until Barcelona resolve their finances, it seems little will happen anyway.

The 26-year-old is a more natural number 10, but would presumably come off the left for Barcelona, with Pedri, Fermin Lopez and Ilkay Gundogan already competing for that spot. Olmo will prioritise a move to Barcelona, but if no agreement can be found, no doubt Bayern will present an attractive offer to him too.
