Atletico Madrid are pushing hard to make several signings this summer. They’ve already closed a deal for Robin Le Normand, while they are also working on deals to bring David Hancko, Conor Gallagher and Alexander Sorloth to the Metropolitano. On top of these operations, they want to secure the arrival of Julian Alvarez, whose future at Manchester City is uncertain.

Atleti consider Alvarez to be a dream signing, and they are expected to make a move later in the window to sign him. He’s wanted on top of Sorloth, who will be the replacement for Alvaro Morata.
Marca have detailed exactly why Alvarez is desperately wanted by Atleti. Club officials see him as a strategic signing that would soften the blow of Antoine Griezmann’s inevitable departure, which could happen as early as next summer.
In this regard, Alvarez could be Griezmann’s successor at Atletico Madrid. It does make sense too, as they have relatively similar playstyles – and the former could be moulded even more into that role by Diego Simeone, and even Griezmann himself if he were to arrive from Man City later this summer.
