Manchester United and Bayern Munich given hope in race for €60m Barcelona target

Barcelona have been in contact with Dani Olmo‘s camp over the weekend, and intend to up the ante for the 26-year-old in the coming week, as Nico Williams harbours doubts over a move to Catalonia. However it will not be made easy for the Blaugrana.

Despite his €60m release clause expiring, and RB Leipzig being willing to negotiate for the Spain star, Barcelona have been told that their last offer was €20m short. The Blaugrana had proposed a deal that was €40m plus €20m in variables for Olmo, which was dismissed out of hand by the German side.

MD reveal that Barcelona have been told through Olmo’s agents that the fixed price of €60m is not negotiable, and whatever payment plan they offer, the figure cannot be made up with variables. This gives hope to other suitors Manchester United and Bayern Munich, who the Catalan daily report remain interested in Olmo, who wants to resolve his future before he is due back in Leipzig training.

From Barcelona’s perspective, they remain optimistic they can reach a deal with Leipzig, and they do hold an ace in their hand: Olmo will prioritise a move back to his boyhood club. Olmo left at the age of 15 to join Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, and a decade later is keen on a glorious return as a Euro 2024 winner.
