Towards the end of last week, Atletico Madrid’s deal to sign Artem Dovbyk broke down. A €40m operation has been agreed upon with Girona, but personal terms could not be finalised, and now Roma are clear favourites to sign the Ukrainian striker, who scored 24 goals in La Liga last season.
According to Ukrainian journalist Ihor Tsyhanyk, Atleti are the ones to blame for a deal not being signed. He alleges that Los Colchoneros changed the agreement that was in place with Dovbyk and his representatives.

Missing out on Dovbyk is a blow for Atletico Madrid, as they go in search of a replacement for the recently-departed Alvaro Morata. However, they appear to have moved on quickly from the saga, as they are now in advanced negotiations with Villarreal to sign Alexander Sorloth. The Norwegian international, who finished one goal behind Dovbyk in the Pichichi Trophy race last season, would cost slightly less.
