Atletico Madrid still have plenty of work to do in their ‘revolution’ this summer as it was deemed by the local press, with only Robin Le Normand through the door so far. It appears their next priority is Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher though.
As per Relevo, Atletico have sped up talks with Gallagher over personal terms, and are looking to find a deal with the England international. However that will not be the hardest part of the deal. Chelsea continue to request €40m for Gallagher, and Atletico’s initial offer was just half of that. One factor working in their favour is that Chelsea would rather sell Gallagher to a team outside of the Premier League, where his other suitors hail from.

The London side do have motive to sell, with just a year remaining on Gallagher’s contract, but Atletico are unlikely to meet their demands. With Koke Resurreccion, Rodrigo de Paul, Pablo Barrios, Arthur Vermeeren, Marcos Llorente and Thomas Lemar for competition in the middle, minutes will be at a premium next season, but Gallagher would no doubt back himself to win a place in Diego Simeone’s side.
