Dani Olmo and RB Leipzig keen to wrap up deal by next week after fresh Barcelona contacts

Barcelona have been heavily linked with Dani Olmo this summer, but it has been made clear that his potential signing will only be dealt with once they have clarity on Nico Williams’ decision on his future. Some say Barcelona would like to sign both, but it seems much more likely that the Blaugrana bring in one of them.

With the Williams decision expected this week, Barcelona will need to move quickly for Olmo if they do want him. MD say that Olmo wants to have his future resolved by the 9th of August, when he is due back in training with RB Leipzig. He will prioritise Barcelona, but also has interest from Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile the same outlet report that Leipzig are keen to get a deal done as soon as possible. The German side are keen to pursue Porto winger Francisco Conceicao as his replacement, but will require at least €30m to do so, and have reported competition Borussia Dortmund, while the likes of Bayern, Juventus, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all been credited with interest.

Barcelona have been trying to advance for Olmo at the same time as the Nico Williams deal, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Blaugrana renewed contact with Olmo during the weekend.

The most recent hints on Williams’ future are that he will remain in Bilbao for another year, which would free up Barcelona to move for Olmo. The 26-year-old demonstrated at Euro 2024 just how effective he can be, finishing as top scorer and contributing two assists too. On the other hand, he would probably end up playing on the left side, rather than in the number 10 role, which perhaps he would favour.
