Barcelona forward turns down offer from Saudi Arabia – new offer expected

Vitor Roque is one of the potential sales, and sources of income, that Barcelona are hoping to take advantage of this summer in order to fund some of their other objectives. However so far, he is yet to receive an appealing offer.

The 19-year-old Brazilian has turned down an offer from Al-Hilal, as per Sport. The Saudi Arabian giants are expected to return for Roque with an improved offer, but currently, he is not considering a move to the Middle East.

Fabrizio Romano has backed up those reports, and also noted that Al-Hilal have enquired about alternatives, such as Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran. Al-Hilal are expected to come back with a fresh and improved offer for Roque.

Various La Liga sides have enquired about Roque, but only on loan, whereas Barcelona and his agent would rather a sale. If he is to leave, he would rather remain in Europe, where Lazio and Porto have been most strongly linked, but no move for Roque seems imminent.

Barcelona bought Roque for €30m in January, and Athletico Paranaense are due €31m in variables if certain targets are made. It is hard not to think that Barcelona have burnt their bridges with the young forward though, having given him little opportunity to prove his quality. The Catalan giants are also contracted to pay him for the next six-and-a-half years.
