Barcelona confident of announcing signing in the next 10 days – Dani Olmo deal seen as most likely

Following news that Barcelona could be about to improve their financial situation, the Blaugrana are optimistic that they can kickstart their transfer window, with nearly half of it gone already.

Multiple reports emerged on Monday evening Spain time that Barcelona are confident of covering some of the money they missed out on due to the non-payment of stakes in Barca Vision. As a result, Sport say the Blaugrana believe they will be able to wrap up their first signing of the summer before the end of their preseason tour in the USA, which is to say in the next ten days. The two deals that are currently being worked on are Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.

The Blaugrana will wait for the response of Williams, but the Catalan daily detail that the Basque winger is increasingly tempted to continue at Athletic Club. Consequently, Barcelona are beginning to feel that finding a deal with RB Leipzig for Dani Olmo is much more of a possibility for them.

Signing Williams requires Barcelona to activate his €58m release clause, but it appears the 22-year-old is conflicted on what he wants to do. Whereas Olmo would reportedly cost in the region of €60m, but Leipzig would be willing to negotiate on payment structure, and Olmo is clear about his desire to join the club.

  2. Until Barca sells off high salaried contracts and goes young and cheap and concentrates on getting out of debt . . . they are going no where. Williams would be smart to avoid the azul y grana until they get their financial house in order.

  3. Barca and LAporta live in the glorious past, blind to the misery of the present and the future. Barca can’t be a successful club until it has no money; and Barca will have no money until they have foolish and profligate leaders. Learn how to deal with money first and then start dreaming of winning big.
