Sevilla closing in on signing of Nigerian forward to replace Youssef En-Nesyri

After Youssef En-Nesyri made his move to Fenerbahce, it has left Sevilla on the hunt for a new number nine. It looks as if it has taken them a number of days to find one.

Former Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has agreed a deal with Sevilla after his contract in England expired this summer. The 27-year-old Nigeria international was linked to Sevilla by Relevo, and just hours later, Matteo Moretto tweeted out that the deal was closed.

Last season, Iheanacho scored six goals and gave two assists in 25 appearances, albeit most were cameo showings. Signing for Leicester for €25m from Manchester City, he failed to hit the heights. Los Nervionenses will be hoping a change of scenery and Garcia Pimienta will be able to unlock that initial potential shown, as they will likely need a forward to surpass his league best of 12 goals in 2021. Currently his only competition, or partners, are Isaac Romero and Dodi Lukebakio.
