Real Madrid player already hoping to take number nine shirt off Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid presented Kylian Mbappe with the number nine shirt earlier this month, as they secured his much-awaited signature. Such has been the demand, in combination with shipping problems in the club’s supply line, that some fans have been facing month-long waits for their Mbappe shirts.

However those that have not bought their Mbappe shirt might want to hold off. As per The Athletic, new Brazilian starlet Endrick Felipe dreams of wearing the number nine, and hopes one day to pull on the shirt worn by Ronaldo Nazario. He will have little chance of taking it off Mbappe, but it may become free – if and when Luka Modric departs, then the number 10 will become available, and the Frenchman may be minded to take over from Modric.

Modric extended his deal by a further year this summer, and is set to become the oldest Real Madrid player in history this season coming. How long the 38-year-old can continue, only he will know, but even he might admit that Endrick and Mbappe have a good chance of outlasting him now.

  1. Modric could seal his fame and good will in Madrid by offering his #10 to Mbappe now and hence, Endrick inheriting the #9, all the while Modric becomes one of the most beloved Madristas in the history of the club. I would recommend he wear the #14 which was made famous by another world class player that sorta looks like him . . . Johan Cruyff!
