Hansi Flick experiment could push Vitor Roque further towards Barcelona exit door

It’s no secret that Vitor Roque appears to be heading out of Barcelona, only six months after he joined the club from Athletico Paranaense. The teenage attacker did not count for Xavi Hernandez during the second half of last season, and the Blaugrana’s sporting department seemingly want to cash in already.

For now, Roque continues in Catalonia, as he is going on the pre-season tour of the United States. However, it’s far from certain that he will remain at the club by the end of the summer, and that could be made certain by a recent training experiment by head coach Hansi Flick.

As per Relevo, Flick was using Ansu Fati as a striker before the 21-year-old suffered a foot injury earlier this week, which will keep him out of the US tour. The coaching staff have been mentoring Fati in particular over the last fortnight, and he has been supported very well.

Fati looked destined to remain at Barcelona for next season, and with deals planned for Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, it would leave an overcrowding in the attacking position. Vitor Roque is a prime candidate to be moved, as it’s likely that he could be fourth-choice at striker (behind Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Fati).
