Girona present record-breaking €20m offer to Valencia for 21-year-old midfielder

Girona have already had a busy summer, signing five players – which will become six when Bryan Gil’s loan move from Tottenham Hotspur becomes official next week. They aren’t done yet, as sporting director Quique Carcel continues working on adding more quality to Michel Sanchez’s squad.

Right now, Carcel is working on a deal for Javi Guerra. Girona have already had two offers knocked back for the 21-year-old midfielder, but they are determined to secure an agreement with Valencia as soon as possible.

As reported by Relevo, a third proposal has been sent to Los Che. It is worth a fixed amount worth just below €20m, which is the asking price that has been set for Guerra – it would be a record-breaking deal for the Catalans, as their previous largest buy was Ladislav Krejci earlier in the summer (he signed for €12m).

However, it still may not be accepted. Valencia want to own a percentage of Guerra’s rights, especially as Villarreal would receive 30% of the fee that Girona pay. €20m fixed is the minimum amount that will be accepted, so it’s imperative that they up their offer slightly in order to seal a deal.
