Girona eyeing up move for ex-Barcelona winger on top of deal for Bryan Gil

On Saturday, it was reported that Girona are closing in on the signing of Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur. Gil will join on an initial loan deal, which could be made permanent for €15m.

Gil is seen as being the successor to Savio, who will not be returning to Girona after his successful loan spell last season. As it turns out, he may not be the only left winger to arrive at Montilivi this summer, as Cadena SER’s Nil Sola has reported that one more signing in the position will be sought.

At this stage, one of the leading candidates is Ez Abde, whose future at Real Betis looks to be uncertain. The 22-year-old only joined last summer from Barcelona, but the expectation is that he would be allowed to leave if an acceptable offer were to arrive.

Betis are reportedly not interested in loaning Abde, and a sale would have to be significant – given that 50% of his rights are owned by Barcelona. Girona would only do a deal if the formula was right, as it was with Gil.
