Former Barcelona target attracting interest from La Liga as summer exit looms

In the winter of 2023, Barcelona were pursuing the signing of Youssoufa Moukoko, whose contract at Borussia Dortmund was expiring at the end of that season. Unfortunately for the Catalans, he ended up signing an extension until 2026, although he will be available for transfer this summer.

Moukoko has struggled for playing time at Dortmund over the last 12 months, and speaking to Fabrizio Romano, his agent has now confirmed that an immediate exit will be sought in the coming weeks.

“Youssoufa was promised a lot before he signed (his latest contract), but it hasn’t materialised. He was always only interested in playing and in his development – not in anything else just like the media reports always claimed. The only thing he wants, is to play and if he is asked to go out and play, we’d have no stress.

“It’s not a secret that there are enough clubs out here who believe in Youssoufa’s qualities and want him in their team. I say BVB is making a mistake in giving Youssoufa away. With so little playing time, everyone will know that Youssoufa’s market value will be low and Dortmund can’t expect much. Now we are sounding out interest from England, Spain and France.”

Moukoko is only 19, and he still has many years ahead. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona renew their interest, but if they do miss out on the signing of Nico Williams, he’d surely be a valuable alternative, given that he would not be overly expensive.
