Concern rising as La Liga side cancels friendly due to lack of players less than 3 weeks from season start

Getafe have generally been one of the more active sides in the transfer market in recent summers, but the lack of business is beginning to cause concern at the Coliseum. Los Azulones cancelled a friendly on Saturday with Albacete, reportedly due to a lack of players, as per Cadena Cope.

Currently they have just 17 players in their first-team squad, including: Borja Mayoral, who is likely to be sold, Fabrizio Angileri, who is also set to leave, and Peter Federico, who is currently on Olympic duty. Earlier this week, Getafe played against Real Oviedo, with a B-team forward in Nabil partnered by centre-back Omar Alderete up front, as manager Jose Bordalas out of alternatives.

Sporting Director Ruben Reyes and President Angel Torres are coming under increasing pressure to make more additions. The new season is just 18 days away now, and Getafe have four friendlies to come – in theory – against Real Zaragoza, Atletico Madrid, Saint-Etienne and Southampton. On the 15th of August, they will face Athletic Club at San Mames.
