Atletico Madrid star returns to training after 10 month injury absence

Atletico Madrid have received a preseason training boost with France international Thomas Lemar back in action.

Lemar’s 2023/24 campaign was brutally ended just weeks after the season kick off due to an Achilles tendon rupture in September 2023.

That sidelined him for the remainder of the season but Diego Simeone is happy to retain him for the upcoming campaign.

Lemar’s current deal runs until 2027, and Simeone will reassess the situation in 2025, depending on his form in the coming months.

As per the latest update from Diario AS, Simeone has been pleased with his rehabilitation over the summer, and his comeback trail is now almost complete.

After taking part in full training sessions in recent days he could now feature in friendly match action against Numancia today.

A decision will then be made over taking him to Asia for the second leg of their preseason tour before kicking off the new La Liga campaign on August 19.
