Decision made: Real Madrid will sign Alphonso Davies as free agent in 2025

Real Madrid have been chasing the signing of Alphonso Davies for some time now, and they had hoped to do a deal with Bayern Munich this summer. However, because of the Bavarians’ high asking price, the decision has now been made to hold off until next summer, when the Canadian left-back is due to become a free agent.

As reported by Diario AS, Real Madrid have a pact in place with Davies, which will see him sign on the 1st of July 2025, when his Bayern contracts comes to its end. It’s a similar agreement to the one that they had with Kylian Mbappe, whose arrival from Paris Saint-Germain became official at the start of this month.

Davies has decided not to sign a new contract at Bayern, and he will instead see out the remainder of his current deal. Real Madrid have been relaxed about the situation, despite not signing him now.

It makes complete sense for Real Madrid to hold out on Davies, even if the asking price set by Bayern was more to their liking. They already have Ferland Mendy, who’s set to sign a new contract in the coming weeks, and Fran Garcia for the 2024-25 campaign, and they will be joined by Davies next summer.
