Isco sets Real Betis fitness target ahead of 2024/25 season

Real Betis star Isco is determined to be ready for the start of the 2024/25 La Liga season in August.

The veteran midfielder enjoyed a superb campaign in Andalucia last season, in his first year at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, with eight league goals.

However, despite his form hinting at a late run for Spain’s Euro 2024 squad, injury derailed the final weeks of the season.

The 32-year-old suffered a fractured leg in May with initial estimates indicating he could be back just in time for the season start.

Isco has remained in Spain, as Real Betis have jetted off for a preseason tour of the USA, and he is focused on his primary mission.

“I’m going to try to be 100% fit at the start of the season,” he told an interview with ESPN, via Relevo.

“It’s been a strange summer, but I’m in the final stretch of recovery. I’m rehabilitating, feeling better every day and eager to get back.”

Real Betis begin their La Liga season at home to Girona on August 15 but they will find out their opponents for the UEFA Europa Conference League play offs on August 5.

  1. Isco has been a pleasant surprise for Los Beticos and seems to be enjoying his time with the verde blanco. He is one reason I enjoy watching Betis even though I am deeply disappointed with the way Iglesias was treated. I will be watching every Celta game now.
