Barcelona negotiating loan deal for high-earning defender

Barcelona are desperately trying to secure the funds required to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, and one of the ways to do this is through player departures. Saving wages would do a long way, especially when taking into account that numerous first team players still need to registered with La Liga, on top of possible new signings.

One player that Barcelona are desperate to move on is Clement Lenglet. The French centre-back is not in Hansi Flick’s plans, and another exit is being sought. The Catalans will need to settle for a third loan in three years, as there is not sufficient interest in a permanent sale.

Besiktas are very interested in signing Lenglet for the 2024-25 season, and according to Diario AS, they are already negotiating with Barcelona. They are willing to pay half of Lenglet’s €6m per year wages, but without any loan fee being added on top. They’re also interested in former Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso, who’s currently a free agent.

These conditions offered by Besiktas are the same ones that Barcelona have accepted from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa respectively in the last two summers. Because of this, it’s likely that they will give the green light on this deal taking place.
