Atletico Madrid target Julian Alvarez as for Manchester City exit – report

Julian Alvarez has reportedly asked Manchester City to let him leave the club this summer.

Alvarez is currently away on Olympic duty after winning the Copa America title with Argentina.

The striker is expected to take his summer break from the start of August and could potentially be out of action for the Premier League champions until September.

Despite netting 19 goals across all competitions at City last season, in a personal best in Manchester, he remains unclear on his starting role.

The former River Plate star has been linked with a switch to Atletico Madrid but no interest has been formalised.

As per reports from The Athletic, Alvarez wants a new challenge, with his family also wanting to live in a warmer climate.

City are likely to demand in the region of £65m for the 24-year-old which is currently outside Atletico Madrid’s price range.

If Los Rojiblancos can sell Joao Felix in the coming weeks, that would improve the situation, but they would still push for a reduced price.
