La Liga chief Javier Tebas hits back at Florentino Perez following opening of TAD investigation

On Tuesday, the Spanish Administrative Tribunal for Sports (TAD) opened an investigation into La Liga president Javier Tebas, who has been accused of improper conduct during the CVC deal in 2021. Real Madrid’s challenging of this is seen as having played a significant role in the opening of this case.

Tebas and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez have an incredibly frosty relationship, and the former could not resist criticising Perez for his supposed involvement in this investigation being opened.

“It seems that someone does not accept that his Super League has been unanimously rejected worldwide by all of football and that CVC’s project with La Liga was ratified with all the guarantees by an overwhelming majority of 39 of 42 clubs and ratified by the courts. It seems that someone, an expert in political shenanigans, has to activate desperate means to try to impose his particular way of seeing football. Well, we will continue working and we will continue defending ourselves with all the forcefulness.

“It’s clear that Florentino Perez, who cannot convince the clubs in Spain or in Europe, is determined to find other ways to try and remove the democratically elected President of La Liga.”

Tebas is determined to fight to keep his place at the head of La Liga. For now, it remains to be seen the outcome of this ongoing investigation.
