Chelsea submit €20m opening offer for Villarreal talent, bid likely to be rejected

Last summer, Villarreal parted ways with Nicolas Jackson in a big-money operation. The Senegalese forward joined Chelsea, and now one of his former teammates could be making a similar move in 2024.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have submitted a €20m opening offer for Filip Jorgensen, one of their goalkeeping targets for the summer transfer window. Personal terms have already been discussed, and the Danish ‘keeper is reportedly open to the move.

However, it’s likely that Villarreal will not accept this proposal from Chelsea. The Mirror reported earlier this week that Marseille have an offer in the same region rejected by the Yellow Submarine. It’s worth remembering that Jorgensen’s release clause is valued at €40m, so there’s no immediate pressure to sell.

Jorgensen starred for a below-par Villarreal side last season, and he’s particularly valued by Chelsea for his ability with the ball at his feet. However, they will surely need to pay more if they are to sign him this summer.
