Borussia Dortmund pushing hard to sign Girona starlet, Real Madrid could get involved

Girona have already parted ways multiple key players from the squad that secured Champions League qualification last season. Savio left upon the expiry of his loan spell, while Aleix Garcia joined Bayer Leverkusen. Artem Dovbyk could join those two by heading for the exit door, as could Miguel Gutierrez.

Gutierrez was a standout performer for Girona at left-back, and his displays have not gone unnoticed across Europe. Numerous clubs have shown an interest, but according to Relevo, the side pushing the hardest to sign him is Borussia Dortmund, who also want to re-unite him with Yan Couto, who returned to Manchester City earlier in the summer after his loan with the Catalans.

Girona are likely to refer to the €35m release clause in Gutierrez’s contract, but this is where Real Madrid could get involved. They have an €8m buy-back option for the young defender, which they could trigger before entering into negotiations with Dortmund. This would allow them to make extra money, although they probably wouldn’t plan on spending it.
