Barcelona finally set press conference for new manager Hansi Flick to be presented to media

Barcelona appointed Hansi Flick in early June as their new manager, and have finally set a date and time for his first press conference. Going against usual practice, Flick has spoken briefly to club media on multiple occasions, but has not yet been placed in front of the press.

According to Sport, Flick will have his training wheels removed on Thursday the 25th of July at 13:00 CEST, after the team training session in the morning. One of the reasons given by President Joan Laporta was that they were giving him time to settle into the club first, before exposing him to the ferocious media in Catalonia.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the conference will be to see whether Flick speaks Spanish and if so, what level of the language he has learnt. Heiko Westermann and Thiago Alcantara have been brought in to facilitate communication with the players as Flick learns the language, but given the season is less than a month away, it would be something of an issue if Flick was struggling to communicate with the players.
