Atletico Madrid set to spend €30m on defender after exit wish is communicated

Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad had been in talks for some time for Robin Le Normand, with many reporting that the deal is done. It is now set to go through, after the defender told La Real he was keen to accept the move.

According to Diario AS, Le Normand will cost Atletico €30m plus around €5m in variables for the 27-year-old. The Euro 2024 winner has already agreed terms with Los Rojiblancos, and the deal is likely to happen in the coming hours.

Real Sociedad had been holding off to see Le Normand’s take on the matter after Spain duty, and would have broken off the deal if Le Normand wanted to stay. However his green light means that La Real will accept the move.

Atletico will finally have their first defender through the door as they look to revamp their backline, with Mario Hermoso having already left, and Stefan Savic likely to do so in the future. La Real have Jon Pacheco coming through, who performed well at points last season, but with another European campaign to balance, it would be no surprise if they looked for a defender too.
