Matteo Moretto Transfer Column: David Hancko, Real Madrid, Youssef En-Nesyri and Sergi Roberto

Matteo Moretto gives Football España exclusive information on the latest deals dominating the papers in Spain, as revealed in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing.

Jose Mourinho factor all but rules out Roma from striker

Regarding Youssef En-Nesyri, Fenerbahce are pushing hard for a deal, and they want to get it done as soon as possible. They have sent an offer of €12m, and I think they could up that offer too. Beforehand, En-Nesyri was a bit reluctant to go, but now he’s showing more willingness to consider joining the Turkish giants.

Part of that is the fact that Jose Mourinho is pushing hard to bring En-Nesyri to Fenerbahce. Roma, as far as I can see, are almost out of the race for him. It’s worth noting that negotiations were never particularly advanced with Roma too, but Fenerbahce are definitely in pole position.

Arsenal, Bologna and Riccardo Calafiori – why is it not done?

For some time we’ve known that Arsenal are after Riccardo Calafiori, and while things looked like they were moving quickly at one stage, it’s not over the line yet. Calafiori has an agreement with Arsenal, but the clubs have not yet reached an agreement. Basically, Bologna want want a fixed fee of €50m with bonuses on top of that. Arsenal want to do the deal for less money. They are currently suggesting a deal with a fixed fee of €45m with bonuses on top of that.

One of the key things to consider is that Basel have a percentage of the deal coming their way, so Bologna have to give some of the money from the sale to Basel. Arsenal are trying to discount the percentage that would go to Basel, but the negotiations are not advancing at the moment, they’re completely at a standstill right now. The player is on standby waiting for them to solve the issue. Let’s see what comes of it.

Real Madrid move for centre-back not entirely ruled out after Leny Yoro snub

What I can tell you is sort of what we’ve been saying all summer: Real Madrid did not want to get into an auction for Leny Yoro, they did not want to throw money out the window for him, and they did not want to have to compete financially for him. They refused to do so, and he’s signed for Manchester United.

As of right now, what’s coming out of Real Madrid is that they are calm about the situation. They have Aurelien Tchouameni, who can fill in at centre-back, and there is no rush to sign anyone. Right now, no names have come out of the club. That said, it’s true that from here on out until the end of the transfer window, they are going to be keeping a very close eye on the transfer window in case a market opportunity comes along, because Carlo Ancelotti would like to have another centre-back in the squad.

Sergi Roberto all but certain to leave Barcelona with two destinations in mind

As we’ve been reporting for some time, Sergi Roberto is closer to leaving than staying. The club asked him to wait, and he did so, but now that we’re into the second half of July, he’s grown tired of doing so, as MD reported on Friday morning.

What I’m told is that he is 99% gone from Barcelona. Roberto had the offer from Sevilla, but at the moment he is waiting for offers from the Premier League and from outside of Europe. But right now, there’s nothing advanced, I can say that. The only thing we’re 99% certain of is that he will leave Barcelona. He’s tired of hanging on for an offer, and Barcelona have not been in touch with him at all.

Atletico Madrid €10m apart on David Hancko deal

On the topic of David Hancko I can reveal that the clubs remain far apart, they’re still in negotiations, but there is distance between them. Feyenoord are asking for €35m, but Atletico Madrid do not want to bid that much, and their offer is €10m short currently. Hancko was open to joining Atletico and that remains the case, but he’s waiting to see what happens now. He’s in no rush though, he’s returned to training with Feyenoord, and is waiting. He knows that Atletico have not made an offer that Feyenoord deem acceptable.

Atletico Madrid are scouring the market for options currently, and I’m told Aymeric Laporte remains on their shortlist, but there are others too, and when we have another name confirmed, we’ll reveal it.
