Barcelona’s first signing of the summer could be made official next week

It’s been an uneventful first 20 days of the summer transfer window for Barcelona. No signings have been made – because they have yet to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule – while there has only been three departures of note, those being Marc Guiu (to Chelsea), Sergino Dest (to PSV) and Marcos Alonso (contract expiry).

The zero next to Barcelona’s number of signings could soon turn to 1 – at least’s that’s the hope from within. Sport say that deals for Nico Williams and Dani Olmo are “on track”, and there is a belief that one of the operations could be finalised by the end of next week.

Right now, Williams is the player most likely to join first. An agreement on personal terms is pending, and Barcelona intend to pay his release clause once they have the player’s “yes”. In Olmo’s case, they’ve sent a contract proposal to his agent.

Signing either player would be fantastic for Barcelona, although it will be extremely difficult because of their financial problems. Returning to La Liga’s 1:1 rule is only half of the battle.

  1. We need both Nico nd Olmo but Barca should not forget the right back problem since Alves left Cancelo is the experience player who can help us fight in Europe this year
