Barcelona offer six-year contract to Euro 2024 standout, €60m proposal also submitted

Barcelona are planning big moves in the transfer market. Nico Williams is their top priority, and while they continue to seek an agreement on personal terms, they’ve stepped up their interest in one of his international teammates.

Earlier this week, it was reported that sporting director Deco met with the agent of Dani Olmo. On the back of this, Barcelona have offered the 26-year-old attacker a six-year contract, as reported by MD.

Olmo is attracting strong interest from across Europe, from Manchester City and Bayern Munich in particular. However, it’s reported that he would prioritise a return to Barcelona, whom he left in 2015 while still part of La Masia.

The report also states that the asking price set by RB Leipzig will remain at €60m for another few weeks. Olmo’s release clause is wiped out this weekend, but an agreement between player/representatives and club means that the fee required to broker a deal will not increase for the time being. Barcelona have offered that amount using a combination of fixed and variable payments.

Olmo would be an exceptional signing of Barcelona, although it’s difficult to see how they manage to afford him, especially considering that Williams is more of a priority at this stage – and he will cost a similar amount. Nevertheless, if they can secure both deals, it would be remarkable business.

Remarkable deal indeed. The same kind of shenanigans that broke Barcelona in the first place. They are acting like drunk sailors again, spending the “if”-come as if it was growing on trees. Until management bites the bullet and sells off their luxury priced players and goes “young” and “cheap” and finally gets their financial house in order, it is certain the azul y grana will continue to wander in the desert like a lost sheep.
