Real Madrid poised to lose exciting La Fabrica talent, Sporting CP advancing on deal

Real Madrid have already parted ways with several young players this summer: Rafa Marin, Alex Jimenez and Marvin Park are three of the players that have departed. But perhaps the sale that will hurt the most is that of Paulo Iago, who’s set to leave in the coming days.

Iago, 17, had been one of the jewels of La Fabrica, but during last season, he fell out of favour in the U19s, managed by Alvaro Arbeloa. He no longer felt counted upon by Real Madrid officials, and as such, he is seeking an exit this summer – Los Blancos are obliging, as they do not want to lose him for free in 2025.

As reported by Relevo, Sporting CP are in advanced negotiations to sign Iago. The Portuguese giants have presented a clear pathway to the first team, something that was not apparent in Madrid.

Losing Iago is a big blow for Real Madrid, although it is one that they’ve been preparing for over the last few months. It remains to be seen whether they’ll be made to regret his departure.
