Manchester United agreement bears fruit for Getafe as €6m pocketed from Mason Greenwood sale

On Thursday, Marseille announced the signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United. The 22-year-old winger joins for a fee in the region of €30m.

Greenwood makes the next step in his career on the back of a solid loan spell at Getafe last season. Los Azulones would have loved to re-sign him this summer, but as it turns out, Man United’s agreement with Marseille has been very fruitful for them.

As reported by MD, Getafe will pocket 20% of the transfer fee that Marseille have paid for Greenwood, which is approximately €6m. Last summer, they negotiated an agreement with Man United that would ensure that they were compensated in the event of a sale, and that’s exactly what has happened.

Getafe will be incredibly satisfied with how things have worked out in this deal. The money obtained should be very valuable for them, especially as they are still looking for a Greenwood replacement.
