Celta Vigo agree deal with Real Betis to sign top striker target

Celta Vigo have been hunting for a Jorgen Strand Larsen replacement over the last few weeks, following the Norwegian’s move to Premier League side Wolves. Throughout the process, their top target has been Real Betis’ Borja Iglesias, and it now seems like they’re about to secure his signature.

Iglesias is doing pre-season training with Betis, but he’s not in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans for the upcoming season. Celta have been pushing to sign him, and he does prioritise a move to Balaidos, although they’ve faced strong competition from Rayo Vallecano and clubs in the Bundesliga.

Fortunately for Celta, they’ve now reached an agreement with Betis. Diario AS have reported that the 31-year-old striker will sign on loan, with medical tests to be completed over the weekend.

Iglesias previously on the books at Celta between 2013 and 2017, although he only made two appearances for the first team. On paper, he’s a very good addition to Claudio Giraldez’s squad, and if he can re-capture his best form, everyone’s a winner.

  1. He has to play to show his form. I could not believe it when Pellegrini would bench him in favor of Willian Jose then to add insult to injury sent him off to Germany on loan. The Panda was one of the hottest goal scorers and my favorite player at Betis. I wonder what happened behind the scenes?
