Real Madrid have been left scrambling after missing out on the signing of Leny Yoro. The 18-year-old had been Los Blancos’ top priority to reinforce their centre-back options ahead of next season, but he is now very close to joining Manchester United. Nevertheless, club bosses are moving on.
After missing out on Yoro, Real Madrid’s top priority is to agree a new contract with Ferland Mendy, as per Marca. The left-back is out of contract next summer, and despite strong reports of Alphonso Davies’ arrival in the next 12 months, he is expected to remain as a key player for Carlo Ancelotti.
Mendy had been rumoured to be leaving Real Madrid as early as this summer, especially because of Davies’ expected arrival. However, Ancelotti prioritises him, and club bosses are now moving to have a renewal agreement tied up by the start of the season.
Mendy was a very dependable performer for Real Madrid last season, and it makes sense to keep him on the back of this. It will be interesting to see whether this has any affect on the situation with Davies, who may end up joining from Bayern Munich this summer.
THAT IS GOOD.
Good you
