Real Madrid look as if they will miss out on Leny Yoro, as Manchester United move within striking distance of signing their top-remaining target this summer. The 18-year-old central defender is set to travel to England to wrap up a deal with the Red Devils.
Yoro, 18, has been identified as a generational talent, and Real Madrid have already reached an agreement on personal terms with him. Last week they began talks with Lille, but are keen not to overspend on Yoro, as he has just a year left on his deal there, and are not close to an agreement.
Manchester United on the other hand have moved to usurp Los Blancos, as per The Athletic. They report that after Lille accepted a €50m offer plus €12m in variables last week, Yoro is now warming to the idea of joining United, and they have booked travel for Yoro to head to England to continue discussions. It is emphasized that while it is a major step forward, there is still work to be done. However he is set to undergo a medical, which would suggest the deal is close.
Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain dropped out of the race after Real Madrid had secured priority position in his mind, but United decided to throw everything at the deal all the same. Lille are believed to be pushing Yoro towards a move to United, which would be far more beneficial for them financially. Real Madrid were relaxed about the deal as of the latest update, but with only David Alaba, Eder Militao, Jesus Vallejo and Antonio Rudiger on their books at centre-back currently, could have to re-evaluate if they do not sign Yoro.
