Dani Olmo speaks on future – ‘There are various options, I don’t know if I’ll continue in Germany’

Spain and RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo has made it abundantly clear that he is considering a move this summer, and even hinted that it might not be in Germany – Bayern Munich have been one of the sides closely linked with Olmo.

The 26-year-old has a release clause in his contract worth €60m, but that expires on the 20th of July, and there has been no suggestion that any side is moving to activate it this week, in spite of his obvious quality. Speaking to Marca on his football school campus, Olmo revealed that he had already made his intentions clear to his agents.

“We’ll see, yesterday we were celebrating all day and now I’m on the Campus. The people who deal with that already know what I want to do. I don’t know if I will continue in Germany, we’ll see. I want to be in a place where I am valued and loved and what I want to do is win. There are several options, we’ll see what happens.”

“What I want is an ambitious project and I want to win titles.”

He was also asked whether he thought Hansi Flick was building a winning project at Barcelona, but Olmo said he had been focused on the Euros and had little idea. Meanwhile he also had words of praise for Lamine Yamal, before saying that Nico Williams would fit at any club he wishes to join.

“I think Nico fits into any team in the world. He is an incredible player and also a great person. He has to decide what is best for him and I will be happy for him whatever he does.”

Olmo has been heavily linked with a move and with his performances at Euro 2024, that interest will only have grown. Bayern Munich are one of several teams that have been linked with him, but Olmo’s comments suggest he could be more interested in a move away from the Bundesliga. Equally, Barcelona seemingly regard him as an alternative to Williams, while Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League are also credited with interest. This week BILD have also reported that Atletico Madrid are in for Olmo, but that remains uncorroborated so far.
