Barcelona are trying to move swiftly in their efforts to sign Nico Williams as soon as possible. The 21-year-old winger is the Blaugrana’s top target, and following the conclusion of Euro 2024, there is expected to be significant movement on this front.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Williams. Sporting director Deco has been tasked with closing the deal, and although Jijantes have now reported that an agreement is not yet in place, the Portuguese did meet with Williams’ agent, Felix Tainta, on Wednesday afternoon in an effort to finalise a contract.

It’s also reported that Barcelona president Joan Laporta has told Deco to close an agreement with Williams’ representatives as soon as possible. It would mean that the club can trigger his Athletic Club release clause once they have returned to La Liga’s 1:1 rule.

Agreeing personal terms will be a big step for Barcelona, although they cannot do anything until they are back in line with La Liga’s 1:1 rule. It’s imperative that this is achieved as soon as possible – once it is, the signing of Williams can becoming more of a reality.
