Last week, Atletico Madrid started their first team pre-season schedule, and an obvious absentee was Stefan Savic. It was later reported that the Montenegrin defender had been allowed to miss training in order to finalise a move away from the club that he has been with since 2015.
However, it’s now been reported by Marca that Savic, who said his goodbye to Atleti supporters at the end of last season, has started training with the rest of his teammates, thus indicating that his future has not yet been resolved.

The likelihood is that Savic, who has been linked with clubs in Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, does not continue at Atleti for the remainder of the summer, but for the time being at least, he is ticking over before settling his future.
Atletico Madrid have already tied up Savic’s successor, that being Robin Le Normand. The Euro 2024 winner is joining from Real Sociedad, with official confirmation of the move set to come very soon.
