The 2023-24 season was one of mixed emotions for Eder Militao. On MD1, he tore his ACL in a freak incident, which caused him to miss over seven months of action. He returned in March, and although he helped Real Madrid win La Liga and the Champions League, it was not in a regular starting role.
Militao struggled for sharpness upon his return from injury, to be expected. However, it meant that Carlo Ancelotti opted to keep his faith in Nacho Fernandez, who started every big match Real Madrid had between March and June, including the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.
Doubts were raised about whether Militao would be the same player post-ACL tear, but as per Diario AS, he dispelled those with his performances for Brazil at the Copa America. The 26-year-old was one of only a few players from the Selecao to come away from the United States with any credit.
Real Madrid are preparing to welcome Militao back with open arms, and he’s projected to begin next season as a starter alongside Antonio Rudiger.
