The day has finall arrived for Real Madrid fans, Kylian Mbappe is here. He is set to be presented to the Santiago Bernabeu in front of an estimated 80,000 fans. Follow here for the latest live updates.

That’s Mbappe’s speech over, Lamari and his father Wilfred join him on stage and embrace him, as well as Perez and Zidane. Photo time.

Looks like we’re getting a lap of honour, hopefully someone will give him a ball soon.

We do have balls! Mbappe is punting them into the crowd to triumphant music. Has to be said, some atmosphere here, Madrid fans are going wild.

Mbappe's first words as a Real Madrid player!

“Good day to all. I am going to try and speak in Spanish.”

“Wow, it’s incredible to be here. I’ve slept for many years with the dream of playing here, and today, I am a happy boy.”

“I want to thank the President, who always kept faith in me, many things happened, so thank you.”

Fayza Lamari, his mother in tears. The crowd goes wild as he kisses the badge.

“Being here is very special for me. I want to thank the many fans, who have shown a lot of love to me over the years.”

“Today we welcome a player that will help us to continue winning, who today accomplishes his life’s dream. Kylian Mbappe.” – Florentino Perez.

Perez thanks Mbappe for making it to Real Madrid because ‘he wanted to’, making his dream come true through ‘efforts that others cannot even imagine.’

Florentino Perez takes to the stage first

He gets a warm welcome!

“Good morning, and welcome to the stadium, to this historic event.”

“You will allow me to first congratulate the Spanish national team, not just for winning it a fourth time, but also the way in which they won it, winning all of their games. Congratulations.”

“This represents a return to normality, being able to welcome a player to our club in our stadium after the pandemic.”

Perez says Real Madrid are the most admired club in the world, with the most honours. That the club is united with 600k followers on social media, and they share their values of ‘respect, solidarity, humility and team spirit’. Thanks various legends for their contributions to building this legend that is Real Madrid.

Asks legendary figure Pirri to the stage. “[To the fans] You are the heart of this club. You in the stadium are representing hundreds of millions of Real Madrid fans around the world.”

Rodrygo has welcomed Mbappe

Plenty of talk that Mbappe’s arrival will be the exit of Rodrygo from the starting XI: he’s been at pains to say he’s happy Mbappe is coming in recent months.

He sends a welcome message to Mbappe – ‘Welcome to the greatest club in the world.’

We await Kylian Mbappe....

After a very long video showing Real Madrid winning lots of Champions Leagues, to the tune of Nessun Dorma, the stadium falls silent. Said video ended with Perez placing the 15th in the Real Madrid museum, and you get the impression he might have had some input into the production.

Now we have a video of Mbappe scoring lots of goals – no Champions League trophies in this one though.

Florentino Perez arrives escorted by Zinedine Zidane

President Florentino Perez has arrived alongside Zinedine Zidane to take their seats as the countdown begins! Reportedly a number of children have been denied entry, under-16s need an adult accompanying them to get in, as per Relevo.

Next stop: Estadio Santiago Bernabeu

Mbappe will now head with Perez to the Bernabeu, where he will address the fans and take his first touches at the stadium as a Real Madrid player.

For context, tickets were free and were immediately taken up by members, with some even trying to re-sell them for €100 online. Around 80,000 fans are expected at the Bernabeu, and queues started around 08:00-09:00am this morning for those hoping to get the best seats.

Contract signed!

Mbappe then underwent a procedural photo op of him signing his contract. He joins on a free from Paris Saint-Germain, on a five-year deal until 2029.

Mbappe medical

After being spotted in Madrid for the first time since he was signed on Monday, Mbappe arrived at the club facilities to pass his medical. All went OK, although there has been some suggestion he may require surgery to fix his broken nose, suffered at Euro 2024.
