Barcelona are targeting a new left winger this summer. Nico Williams appears to be their top target, although there is also concrete interest in Dani Olmo, who has the backing of manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco.
If Barcelona were to make their move for Olmo, it’s likely that it would need to come soon. The €60m release clause in his RB Leipzig contract expires on Saturday, and it’s expected that the price would increase beyond this date, thus making it more difficult for a deal to be done.
On top of this, Barcelona are facing strong competition for Olmo, but one of those competitors has taken a back seat for now. According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are targeting Desire Doue and Xavi Simons over Olmo.

🔺Doué initially planned primarily on the left wing + 10 and 8
🔺Xavi is planned to play as a 10 and on the wing. However, if everyone is fit, he is also expected to play behind Musiala and in front of Palhinha.… pic.twitter.com/DDA1p1jByC

Olmo showed how good he is during the recent Euro 2024 tournament, as he walked away with a joint-share of the top scorer award. He’d welcome a return to Barcelona this summer, although for now, it seems like he is also not a priority for president Joan Laporta, who only wants Williams.
