Barcelona injury woes continue: starlet requires surgery after suffering fracture in training

Barcelona had rotten luck with injuries last season, and despite a new era beginning under the management of Hansi Flick, those same problems have continued. Pedri and Ronald Araujo suffered serious knee and hamstring issues respectively whilst on international duty earlier this month, and another blow has now occured.

On Tuesday, Barcelona confirmed that Pablo Torre fractured his fifth metacarpal bone in his left hand during a collision in training. As a result, surgery will be undertaken for the young midfielder in the next few days.

Torre’s hopes of impressing Flick this summer have been slightly hindered by this injury, but the fortunate news is that he should be able to return to training once the surgery has taken place. It’s not a serious problem, and he should be able to continue with a bandaged-up hand, likely later in the week.

Nevertheless, it’s remarkable the amount of issues that Barcelona players have suffered over the last 12 months. It’s perhaps a reason why no departures have been finalised yet, in case more bad luck strikes in Catalonia.
