It is fair to say that Rodri Hernandez was in the spirit of things during Spain’s Euro 2024 celebrations, and he may have some fun conversations when he gets back to Manchester City training after some well-earned rest.
The City and Spain star was awarded player of the tournament at Euro 2024, and Spain manager Luis de la Fuente even asked for him to be awarded the Ballon d’Or this year off the back of an excellent tournament.
With the Spain team celebrating with the fans at the Cibeles fountain in central Madrid, presenting the trophy to the fans, each player was given the microphone at some stage. Rodri used his turn to sing “It’s Spanish, Gibraltar is Spanish”, referencing the tiny outcrop at the southern tip of Spain that belongs to the United Kingdom, and acts as a small naval base too.

Many in Spain believe it is about time the land was returned to Spain, but as a strategic position in the Mediterranean Sea, it seems unlikely to happen any time soon, even with Rodri leading the charge.
