Had he not suffered a terrible knee injury in November, which tore his ACL and damaged his meniscus, Gavi would have been one of the 26 members of Spain’s squad for Euro 2024. He won’t have the chance to play in Sunday’s final, but he will be in attendance, having been invited by the Spanish Football Federation to attend the showpiece event as a special guest.
Spain’s official social media channels captured the heart-warming moment that Gavi arrived at La Roja’s team hotel ahead of the final. He was greeted by Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente and Federation president Pedro Rocha.

It’s been an incredibly tough eight months for Gavi, as he works himself back to full fitness following that awful knee injury. Seeing his Spain teammates win Euro 2024 will certainly put a smile on his face, although there would no doubt be a pang of disappointing at not being on the pitch to help La Roja achieve their objective.
