Real Madrid squad planning idea means 24-year-old has real chance of leaving this summer

Real Madrid have already completed the signing of Kylian Mbappe, and Endrick Felipe will also be arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. Two very big signings, but more are on the agenda for Los Blancos. Specifically, two defenders come arrive before the transfer window closes.

A new centre-back is desired after the departures of Nacho Fernandez and Rafa Marin, with Lille’s Leny Yoro being the top priority for Real Madrid’s sporting department. He’ll be targeted first, but a move for Alphonso Davies could also be made this summer.

Davies has been a long-term target for Real Madrid, and although their intention has been to sign him now, Bayern Munich’s demands have cooled their interest somewhat, with club bosses considering to wait until he becomes a free agent next summer before signing him. There’s also less of a desire to bring him in now because of Ferland Mendy’s good performances last season.

However, it seems like both Davies and Mendy could be at Real Madrid next season, with Relevo reported that Real Madrid officials are warming to the idea of both players being in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. This would mean that Fran Garcia leaves, as he’d have no chance of playing next season.

Having Davies and Mendy would almost be overkill for Real Madrid, and it would cause a significant selection headache for Ancelotti, who has favoured the latter in recent months. It will be interesting to see if this idea becomes a reality later this summer.
