One of the players to watch over the remainder of the summer transfer window will be Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia. The 23-year-old is off the back of a stellar campaign with the Catalans, and he played a big role in their immediate return to La Liga, via the Segunda play-offs.
Garcia has been strong linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, but they aren’t the only club eyeing up a move for the talented ‘keeper. Marca have reported that Girona are also keen, and they recently had an opening offer turned down by Espanyol.
Los Pericos do not have any plans to sell Garcia this summer, and the only way a departure would happen is if his €25m release clause was triggered. There’s very little chance of Girona doing that, especially considering the fact that he would not be a nailed starter at Montilivi, as Michel Sanchez already has Paulo Gazzaniga in his squad. That would give Arsenal a significant advantage.
