On Friday, it was reported that Atletico Madrid had reached an agreement with Saul Niguez to terminate his contract with immediate effect. The 29-year-old has no place in Diego Simeone’s squad for next season, and he will now be paid off to ensure that his salary is no longer on the books.
Once the mutual contract termination is finalised, which will be very soon, Saul will join Sevilla, whom he has already agreed terms with. Bearing this in mind, he has already said his goodbye to his Atleti teammates ahead of moving to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, as revealed by MD.

Saul has been one of Atletico Madrid’s longest-serving players, having been in the first team fold almost as long as Simeone. He made his debut during the 2011-12 season, and aside from loan spells at Rayo Vallecano and Chelsea, he has been ever-present for Los Colchoneros ever since. That streak will end in the next few days when his move to Sevilla is finalised.
